Kryon® 32: the low-GWP alternative to R410A for air conditioning systems

Kryon® 32 is an HFC refrigerant that has so far been used as a component in R-410A and R-407C blends. Thanks to its energy efficiency and environmental performance, Kryon® 32 has already been adopted by leading manufacturers of residential air conditioners.

Kryon® 32 has a Global Warming Potential (GWP) significantly lower than that of R-410A. The product is used in systems designed for low cooling temperatures. Kryon® 32 is a mildly flammable gas and requires the use of polyolester (POE) oil with viscosity specifically suitable for R-32.

Applications

Kryon® 32 is used in residential and commercial air conditioning systems.

Performance

  • Kryon® 32 provides performance and energy efficiency equivalent to R-410A.

  • Significantly lower GWP compared to R-410A.

  • No replacement of components, lubricants, or seals required.

Recommended Lubricants

Kryon® 32 requires the use of polyolester (POE) oil with viscosity specifically designed for R32.

Important

Kryon® 32 can only be used in new systems designed to operate with mildly flammable refrigerants (A2L class).

Kryon® 32 cannot and must not be used as a retrofit refrigerant for A/C systems designed to operate with R410A. In addition to clear safety implications—since R410A systems are not designed to operate with even mildly flammable gases—there are also significant differences in the correct refrigerant charge (about –25% compared to R410A) and discharge temperature (higher than R410A), which may result in compressor damage.

KryoBox Cylinders

KryoBox cylinders are particularly useful whenever a limited quantity of refrigerant charge is required. They are more manageable than traditional cylinders, making them easier to transport and store.

KryoBox cylinders are available in 6.4-liter and 13.6-liter sizes, manufactured in compliance with T-PED technical standards, and packaged in high-strength cardboard boxes to facilitate handling, transport, and storage.

For all refrigeration and residential air conditioning applications, KryoBox cylinders are equipped with a standard 1/4” outlet valve with handwheel and overpressure safety device.
The R410A KryoBox cylinder is supplied with a 5/16" outlet adapter.

Advantages

KryoBox cylinders are compact yet robust, thanks to the protection provided by the high-strength cardboard packaging. The box includes a dedicated opening that allows the flexible hose to be connected without removing the cylinder from its protective box.

Even when the cylinder is inverted, the flexible hose can be mounted so that the valve can be easily opened, allowing the liquid phase of the refrigerant to be withdrawn.

KryoBox cylinders are refillable and can be reconditioned and refilled for reuse.
